Worry is a common experience, but when it becomes regular and is about a range of things over which we have little control, it can start to have a negative impact on our lives.
GAD describes the experience of someone who feels anxious most of the time, tends to fear the worst might happen in a range of situations (e.g. finances, the welfare of loved ones, personal health) and whose anxiety affects their work and home life. Living with such a high level of worry can lead people to feel irritable and tense and have difficulties with sleep and concentration.
